New constitution Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

New constitution - Assignment ExampleParticipation by right wholeness criterion that is considered to be important in constitution making is participating in the whole unconscious process. This is seen as being legitimate. Public participation in the process of constitution making makes it desirable. Allowing the public to participate in the process of enacting a new constitution creates a stronger ground on which to stand. Logically we can enjoin that the right to participate in the process of constitution making is derived from the meaning which is generally termed as democratic participation. In the Human Rights Declaration made by the United Nations (1948, Article 21) and especially in reference to article 25 states that there is a right to participate in voting, affairs of the public and a right to the access of public service. One of the reasons that constitution making is important is because it is mostly about the distribution of power. Public participation that can be con sidered to be genuine includes allowing the people freedom of speech and assembly, social inclusion and personal security. When the channels of communication are good and enhanced between every level of the society, a strong civil society and civic education then the process of constitution making is facilitated at a higher level (Lerner, 2011). ... In this type of regime the powers of authority are limited, written and the law restricts it so as to offer protection to the citizenry. To oversee this accomplishment there has to be a federal system in which there is division of power between the state government and the federal government. Thus power is not wielded by champion fraction, for example the constitution might give the federal government the power to make laws, tax people to raise m one and only(a)y and to control an army enchantment the rest of the powers are given to individual states. Through the constitution the government gets to be separated into beginninges the j udicial, legislative and executive branches. The ruminates of each branch vary from one to the other. The executive branch is headed by the chairwoman. His /her work is to be the commander in chief of the armed forces, enforce laws and to conduct foreign affairs. The Judicial branch has the job and mandate to make sure the constitution is upheld and the laws followed to the latter (Lerner, 2011). Checks and balances This idea of checks and balances is credited to Montesquieu and it helps the branches of government to cooperate, offer protection to minority from the majority and limit one branch of the government from becoming extremely powerful. This system enables the branches of the government to limit or check each other so that sharing of power is kept at a balanced level. The presidents veto power can be used as a good example in this setting. The president can veto a bill and in the process limit the power of congress, but on the other hand the legislative branch of the gover nment can overturn this veto by having a two-thirds majority in both of the house and hence the balance is maintained. The legislative

(Swanson and Corbin, 1) Therefore, it is important to recognize that hotshot of the essential factors alter to the universal approval of this work is that it establishes the connection between politics and ethics. In a careful analysis of this classic work by Aristotle, it becomes lucid that it is one of the best examples of philosophical writings on the relationship between politics and ethics and it deals with various crucial aspects of politics. Aristotle is also explicit and clear about the qualities of hoi polloi who rule the state, the people who are ruled (citizen), and the merits and demerits of different types of government. A profound exploration of Aristotles Politics confirms that Aristotle is highly effective and convin cing in proving that politics is the fundamental feature of human beings and that no human being can neglect the prime role of politics. In other words, Aristotles Politics establishes that man is essentially a political animal, and this is one of the best explanations of human nature. Therefore, Aristotle underlines the fact that politics is ultimately linked to mans basic nature. According to him, it is apparent(a) that the state is a creation of nature, and that man is by nature a political animal. And he who by nature and not by mere chance event is without a state, is either a bad man or above humanity.

Biography of Georg Simon Ohm Essay Example for Free

Biography of Georg Simon Ohm EssayGeorg Simon Ohm (16 March 1787 6 July 1854) was a Bavarian (German) physicist and mathematician. As a spunky school teacher, Ohm began his investigate with the new electrochemical cell, invented by Italian scientist Alessandro Volta. Using equipment of his own creation, Ohm found that there is a direct proportionality between the potential difference (voltage) applied across a conductor and the resultant electric underway. This relationship is known as Ohms faithfulness. Ohm died in Munich in 1854, and is buried in the Alter Sdfriedhof. Early historic periodGeorg Simon Ohm was born into a Protestant family in Erlangen, Bavaria, (then a part of the Holy Roman Empire)son to Johann Wolfgang Ohm, a locksmith and Maria Elizabeth Beck, the daughter of a tailor in Erlangen. Although his parents had not been formally educated, Ohms bugger off was a respected man who had educated himself to a noble level and was able to give his sons an excellent education through his own teachings. Of the seven children of the family whole three survived to adulthood Georg Simon, his younger brother Martin, who later became a well-known mathematician, and his sister Elizabeth Barbara. His mother died when he was ten. From early childhood, Georg and Martin were taught by their father who brought them to a high standard in mathematics, physical science, chemistry and philosophy. Georg Simon attended Erlangen gym from age eleven to fifteen where he received little in the area of scientific training, which acutely contrasted with the inspired instruction that both Georg and Martin received from their father. This characteristic made the Ohms bear a resemblance to the Bernoulli family, as noted by Karl Christian von Langsdorf, a professor at the University of Erlangen.Life in universityGeorg Ohms father, concerned that his son was wasting his educational opportunity, sent Ohm to Switzerland. There in phratry 1806 Ohm accepted a position as a mathematics teacher in a school in Gottstadt bei Nydau. Karl Christian von Langsdorf left the University of Erlangen in early 1809 to take up a interest in the University of Heidelberg and Ohm would have liked to have gone with him to Heidelberg to restart his mathematical studies. Langsdorf, however, advised Ohm to continue with his studies of mathematics on his own, advising Ohm to read the works of Euler, Laplace and Lacroix. Rather reluctantly Ohm took his advice but he left his teaching post in Gottstadt bei Nydau in March 1809 to become a private tutor in Neuchtel. For two days he carried out his duties as a tutor temporary hookup he followed Langsdorfs advice and continued his private study of mathematics. Then in April 1811 he returned to the University of Erlangen. His private studies had stood him in good stead for he received a doctorate from Erlangen on 25 October 1811 and immediately joined the staff as a mathematics lecturer. later three semesters Ohm gave up his university post. He could not see how he could attain a better status at Erlangen as prospects there were measly while he essentially lived in poverty in the lecturing post. The Bavarian government offered him a post as a teacher of mathematics and physics at a poor quality school in Bamberg and he took up the post there in January 1813. This was not the successful career envisaged by Ohm and he decided that he would have to show that he was worth much more than a teacher in a poor school. He worked on writing an elementary record on the teaching of geometry while remaining desperately unhappy in his crease. After Ohm had endured the school for three years it was closed down in February 1816. The Bavarian government then sent him to an overcrowded school in Bamberg to help out with the mathematics teaching. On 11 September 1817 Ohm received an offer of the post of teacher of mathematics and physics at the Jesuitic Gymnasium of Cologne. This was a better school than any that Ohm h ad taught in antecedently and it had a well equipped physics laboratory. As he had done for so much of his life, Ohm continued his private studies reading the texts of the leading French mathematicians Lagrange, Legendre, Laplace, Biot and Poisson. He moved on to reading the works of Fourier and Fresnel and he began his own experimental work in the school physics laboratory after he had learnt of Oersteds denudation of electromagnetism in 1820. At startle his experiments were conducted for his own educational benefit as were the private studies he made of the works of the leading mathematicians. The Jesuit Gymnasium of Cologne failed to continue to keep up the high standards that it had when Ohm began to work there so, by 1825, he decided that he would try again to attain the job he really wanted, namely a post in a university. Realising that the way into such a post would have to be through research publications, he changed his attitude towards the experimental work he was underta king and began to systematically work towards the publication of his results 1- Overburdened with students, finding little appreciation for his conscientious efforts, and realising that he would never marry, he turned to science both to prove himself to the world and to have something solid on which to base his petition for a position in a more stimulating environment. In fact he had already convinced himself of the truth of what we call today Ohms law namely the relationship that the current through most materials is directly proportional to the potential difference applied across the material. The result was not contained in Ohms firsts penning published in 1825, however, for this paper examines the decrease in the electromagnetic forcefulness produced by a wire as the length of the wire increased. The paper deduced mathematical relationships based purely on the experimental evidence that Ohm had tabulated. In two important papers in 1826, Ohm gave a mathematical description of c onduction in circuits modelled on Fouriers study of heating plant conduction. These papers continue Ohms deduction of results from experimental evidence and, particular(prenominal)ly in the second, he was able to propose laws which went a long way to explaining results of others working on galvanic electricity. The second paper certainly is the first step in a comprehensive theory which Ohm was able to give in his famous book published in the following year.Teaching careerOhms own studies prepared him for his doctorate which he received from the University of Erlangen on October 25, 1811. He immediately joined the talent there as a lecturer in mathematics but left after three semesters because of unpromising prospects. He could not survive on his salary as a lecturer. The Bavarian government offered him a post as a teacher of mathematics and physics at a poor quality school in Bamberg which Ohm accepted in January 1813. Unhappy with his job, Georg began writing an elementary text book on geometry as a way to prove his abilities. Ohms high school was closed down in February 1816. The Bavarian government then sent him to an overcrowded school in Bamberg to help out with the teaching of mathematics.Memorial for Ohm at the Technical University of Munich, Campus Theresienstrasse After his assignment in Bamberg, Ohm sent his completed manuscript to King Wilhelm III of Prussia. The King was satisfied with Ohms book, and offered Ohm a position at the Jesuit Gymnasium of Cologne on 11 September 1817. This school had a reputation for good science education and Ohm was required to teach physics in addition to mathematics. The physics laboratory was well-equipped, allowing Ohm to begin experiments in physics. As the son of a locksmith, Ohm had some practical experience with mechanical devices. Ohm published Die galvanishe Kette, mathematisch bearbeitet (The galvanic Circuit Investigated Mathematically) in 1827. Ohms college did not appreciate his work and Ohm resigned from his position. He then made an application to, and was employed by, the Polytechnic cultivate of Nuremberg. Ohm arrived at the Polytechnic School of Nuremberg in 1833, and in 1852 he became a professor of experimental physics at the University of Munich. The discovery of Ohms lawFurther information Ohms LawOhms law first appeared in the famous book Die galvanische Kette, mathematisch bearbeitet (tr., The Galvanic Circuit Investigated Mathematically) (1827) in which he gave his complete theory of electricity. In this work, he stated his law for electromotive force acting between the extremities of any part of a circuit is the product of the strength of the current, and the resistance of that part of the circuit. The book begins with the mathematical background necessary for an misgiving of the rest of the work. While his work greatly influenced the theory and applications of current electricity, it was coldly received at that time.It is interesting that Ohm presents his theory a s one of contiguous action, a theory which opposed the concept of action at a distance. Ohm believed that the communication of electricity occurred between contiguous particles which is the term Ohm himself used. The paper is concerned with this idea, and in particular with illustrating the differences in this scientific approach of Ohms and the approaches of Joseph Fourier and Claude-Louis Navier. A detailed study of the conceptual framework used by Ohm in producing Ohms law has been presented by Archibald. The work of Ohm tag the early beginning of the subject of circuit theory, although this did not become an important field until the end of the century.Ohms acoustic lawFurther information Ohms acoustic lawOhms acoustic law, sometimes called the acoustic phase law or simply Ohms law, states that a musical sound is perceived by the ear as a set of a number of constituent pure harmonic tones. It is well known to be not quite true.WORKS* Guidelines for an appropriate treatment of g eometry in higher education at preparatory institutes / notes* The Galvanic Circuit Investigated Mathematically* Elements of analytic geometry concerning the skew coordinate system* Fundamentals of physics Compendium of lectures

Chapter 2 - research methodology Essay Example for Free

Chapter 2 research methodology EssayAim and Objectives. The aim of the research is to undertake an analysis of the Chinese banking industry systems, processes and products through a slip study of Bank of China and HSBC, London. Objectives. The research objectives are as follows - 1. Assess the overall state of the Chinese banking systems, processes and products. 2. guess implementation of systems, practices and processes of the modern banking industry. 3. Evaluate knowledge domains for further growth and development by Chinese banks. This chapter aims to illustrate the methodology of the research. It describes common research philosophies, research mountes and the research strategy. Veal (2000) has described research as systematic and careful inquiry and search for the truth or an investigation into a subject to discover facts. What is Research? Research is a well define area of study of a particular problem or issue in its totality or in specific to a particular area of co ncern. (Veal, 2000). Research should entail the following characteristics, which will be kept in mind by the author while evaluating the subject (Morgan, 2000)- (a) Systematic collection of data. (b) analytic interpretation of data.(c) Developing a theory and conclusion. The Research Philosophy Modern research has three models these are positivism, realism and interpretivism. (Cantrell, D. C. (n. d. )). Positivism Positivism entails a scientific stance for research and interpretation of data. Thus only those phenomenon which are observable and measurable are regarded as knowledge. Positivists maintain an independent and objective stance. (Cantrell, D. C. (n. d. )). Phenomenology (Interpretivism) This is opposite of the electropositive approach and is known as interpretivism or phenomenology. (Cantrell, D. C. (n. d. )).Though positivistic and interpretivism paradigm are two extremes, intimately researchers use elements of two practices, which is implied in realism. This approach is considered the most appropriate for the project as the writer will be carrying out a comparative analysis of the Chinese and the British Banking system with a case study of the Bank of China vis a vis HSBC, London. Since banking systems are not just financial and economic systems but involve social issues in the context of a broader socio-political environment, a realistic approach to research is considered the most suitable.Research Approach There are two strands, which can be adopted, deductive and inductive. The deductive approach is used when a hypothesis is genuine and the research design has to test that hypothesis. The deductive approach is amplified by means of a diagram at opine 1 (Trochim, 2000). Figure 1 On the other hand the inductive approach is related to qualitative data, as a sample used in a case study as contrasting to the large quantum of data which is used in the deductive approach. A theory is said to be developed from data collection in this approach.A di agram showing the inductive approach is at Figure 2 below (Trochim, 2000)-Figure 2 The dynamic temperament of the research will entail application of both approaches by the author as in practice almost all the research projects have elements of both the approaches in view of the importance of including both qualitative and quantitative findings.Research Data In general data contains information collected and recorded in note books, questionnaires, audiotapes, videotapes, models, photographs, films and test responses. (Veal, 2000). Research data in this case will be the response of selected customers and managers of Bank of China and HSBC, London. based on a questionnaire.

How to tame a wild tounge Essay Example for Free

How to tame a wild tounge EssayIn the essay, How to Tame a wild Tongue, Gloria Anzaldua the author, states the importance of maintaining mavens native tongue. She believes that commonwealth should cover whenever or however they please given that it does not harm anyone. Anzaldua does not insufficiency to escape her Mexi fundament ways such as speaking Spanish. It is a vital part of her life beca habit she communicates with her family members speaking a variety of Spanish dialects. Since she has no other way to show her Mexican ways, it is key that she speaks Spanish to maintain her Mexican pride. People take pride in the languages that they speak and its not ripe for others to tell them they atomic number 18 not allowed to express themselves in those foreign languages. On the other hand, it is important that to speak English in order to communicate with her classmates, teachers, and anyone nearly her. English is fast becoming the dominant means by which the demesne is ab le to communicate. It is being referred to as the ball-shaped language as it is seen as a common means for interaction between different countries. This new phenomena can be seen in a positive light because the use of English as a common language brings efficiency and greater understanding. Nevertheless there some people who believe that this fact has changed and that now it is to a greater extent important to uplift Spanish and Mandarin than the English language. Anzaldua dealt with this issue on a consistent basis in her school life. Though she was not told to lose her Spanish ways, she entangle that speaking English would not allow her to express herself. Especially in the American culture, it was necessary for her to learn English to communicate with her peers.Furthermore, the English language is the digit one lingua franca no other comes close. At the moment round 1. 113 meg people speak Chinese as their mother tongue, whereas about 372 million speak English. Following thi s criterion Chinese must be the worlds global tongue and yet analysts considered English to be the global language of the century. Imagine if Chinas economy takes flight in the coming few years, enabling the country to replace the United States as the greatest economic power, there would be a possibility that China could take over in the next couple decades. In fact, reports sacrifice shown that the number of Chinese learners is increase dramatically. Chinese learners in Africa, for example, have increased to 8,000 in the year 2005. The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation published the statistic in a 2005 report. The report also says that in Sudan alone, Chinese learners have amounted to 450, and many have come to China to learn on Chinese government scholarships, according to Peter Nyot Kok, Minister of Higher Education and scientific Research of Sudan. According to the U. S. Bureau of the Census, ten years ago about one in seven people in this country spoke a language other than E nglish at home.Since then the proportion of immigrants in the population has grown and grown. Ever-wider swaths of Florida, California, and the Southwest are heavily Spanish speaking. Hispanic people make up 30 percent of the population of New York City, and a television station there that is affiliated with a Spanish-language network has been known to get down a larger daily audience than at least one of the citys English-language network affiliates. According to the census, from 1980 to 1990 the number of Spanish-speakers in the United States grew by 50 percent.Statistically, more people in the world speak Mandarin than English, but Mandarin is not spoken much outside Asia. A global language is a language spoken multinationally. A global language is not only a majority people spoken, but also use in international organization or international event. Its a well-known fact that there is huge demand for English speaking professionals in China who can facilitate international busine ss. There is also acute demand for English teachers who can make the Chinese students better equipped for modern-day business and life.Chinese has more native speakers, however, it also has simplistic grammar, and it lacks articles, prepositions, verb conjugation and tense, singularity and plurality of nouns making it less effective than English at expressing complex meanings. It is also tonal, which limits the speakers use of tone for emotional and conceptual expression. Furthermore most Westerners find the Chinese writing system difficult to grasp. So from emerging trends, it seems evident that Chinese is not more popular than English as a global language. English is widespread largely due to the fact that it is used so heavily in television, film and music.Hollywoods global spread has contributed strongly to the international popularity of English. It is also the predominant language on the Internet. Web pages in other languages often tend to have an English translation. The Brit ish Empire and the dominant nature of American popular culture have contributed overall to the spread of English across the planet. Because of this many novel Hispanics have favored adopting the English language into their culture. In South East Asia, as a result of English becoming a kind of global currency, there is a large turn towards acquiring language skills not in any language but most specifically in English. As the world becomes more globalized or as corners of the planet open up for trade relations with other countries and tourism booms, the need for English increases. Hotels, shops and schools have a desperate desire to sell their services and make a living. Peoples ability to survive is strongly linked to their ability to communicate in English. Consequently native languages become redundant and even endangered. People focus on learning English over learning other languages and also in many cases need to use their individual languages to a lesser degree. In fact more Asia ns speak English than anyone else. One of them is that it facilitates the exchange of information from one part of the world the other with ease. It is through the existence of a global language like English that peace and trade has been enhanced between confused countries. It has also facilitated the mobility of people both in their physical terms and also electronically. Sufficient statistics indicate that most trade is done electronically and this is greatly facilitated by English as a global language. Finally, there are economic advantages connected with a global language.Crystal claims that the more a community is lingually mixed the less it can rely on individuals to ensure communication between different groups (Crystal 200311). Consequently linguistically mixed communities, as well as the global community, are spending large sums of money on translations and interlingual renditions in order to reach its citizens. A global language known and spoken by everybody would undoub tedly lower these be, and the spared money could be used in other important areas instead, for example in humanitarian aid.In fact, during the last decades the need of interpretation and translation in international organizations has progressively has been decreasing thanks to the expansion of English. Many international organizations find it necessary that all people involved speak English, since the translation expenses would be too high. According to Crystal half the budget of an international organization could easily get swallowed up in translation costs if there was a lack of a common language (Crystal 2003 12).Mutual intelligibility, great career opportunities and reduced administrative costs are some of the advantages a global language would give. We are in need of an international language for communication, politics, trade and security, but at the same time we are worried about language death, the advantages native speakers will have and all the disadvantages non-native s peakers will face. English is growing, it is a strong language, and its future seems bright. My opinion is that if there will ever be an official international language English is the best option. It is a strong, well-developed language with millions of speakers. Even if a global language might be important, different languages are of importance for their culture and for the development of their native speakers. Anzaldua wants to maintain her heritage by speaking her language constantly. She is in fear that speaking English will kick the bucket to the death of her heritage, but the integration of her heritage with English will only allow her to have communication with more people around her. Languages make the world more interesting and more alive.
